Excellent 1940's Swiss Army Backpack. Salt n Pepper' Large Pack with Original Rifle Carry Feature: RARE! HARD TO FIND WW2 VERSION OF CLASSIC SWISS MOUNTAIN BAG>. Swiss stuff: Always amazing high quality: This bag is no exception.

Makes good display, and very well designed, I use these for walks too. Has a internal'tube' section of the same canvas as the rest of the bag, for carrying rifle separate from other gear and protected from the elements, also meaning longer objects such as ice axes can be carried.

If not needed, this area is flat to the back of the back and doesn't notice. In addition there are two internal pockets and two removable wood struts for rigidity of the whole bag (see pics). Nice large side pockets with intact leather fasteners. Overall, leather is in great condition, and this piece is probably quite usable as a hiking backpack, but I would be cautious with over-packing as the lower ends of the shoulder straps at the buckle as they have some mild fraying at the far ends.

In my opinion this is best suited for display as it is a historic piece, but your choice. Original owners name to label at lower rear. From the canton of Vaud. Indistinct stamp'1945 Zurich' to end of strap. Aluminium tag to top flap with soldier's serial number -52505.

Please note: this great bag has come out of storage, may have minor faults. Certianly has many more years in it. May have small stains here and there, also refer to pictures as part of reference.
