A rare pair of vintage 1940's boy's trousers. These pants were made during WWII and have a W. (Wartime Prices Trade Board) licence number on the paper size tag which accurately dates them to wartime manufacturing.
I've never seen anything quite like them: A true "poor boys" pair of all-purpose work, school and play pants. They're made of blue "salt & pepper" type cotton and linen chambray. The manufacturing quality is incredibly poor which is common for lower income, low-grade dry goods made during this era. There is no wasted fabric.... Surprisingly there is only one back pocket.Front pockets are lined with lightweight chambray. Seams are double stitched with black thread. Other featured include: Turned cuffs, button fly with 3 painted tin buttons and one end-of-the-day glass top button, chambray interior waistband, triangular crotch insert for a roomy fit and self-fabric belt with a scrolled steel buckle.
These vintage pants are from an old store and have never been worn. They are a true collector's piece.Overall condition is very good and they display well. There are no rips, holes or bad odors. There is dust soiling and possibly some minor fading along the fold lines as shown in the photos. The steel buckle of the belt has some rust on the inside and there is a bit of rust on the belt itself but not on the pants. Cuff measures 9 across bottom hem.
Measurements are taken with the garment lying flat and doubled when necessary. These measurements are of the garment, please allow room for movement.
