Antique Hand Painted 5-Piece Milk Glass Condiment Set, Ca 1898, Cosmos Scroll #400 Pattern, Eagle Glass & Manufacturing Co, Complete, Lovely. Original and correct Victorian-Era condiment set, complete with salt and pepper shaker, mustard powder bowl with spoon and holding tray.

Hard-to-find, this 5-piece set displays a lovely, muted, pink and green flower and scroll motif that has been hand-painted on opaque milk glass. Known in general as Opalwear, this particular pattern (#400) is named Cosmos Scroll and was produced by Eagle Glass and Manufacturing Company (Wellsburg, WVa) in the late 1890s. It is an excellent example of Early American Period Glass (EAPG), which was produced by various glass makers between about 1850 to 1914.

This set shows only modest wear, with slight color fading, mild glass chipping under each lid (most loss seen on the salt shaker, photo #8), and metal fatigue with fissuring to varying degrees on the sides of each lid. However, we see no other glass chips, cracks or breakage, and the chipping described above is completely hidden by the lids, not affecting the beauty, form or function of this piece. Total set weight is 14.2 oz.

1 Tray 7"(l) x 6 1/4"(w) x 1/2(d). 2 Salt shaker 2"(w) x 2 1/4"(h).

3 Pepper shaker 1 3/4"(w) x 3 1/4"(h). 4 Mustard bowl 2 1/4"(w) x 2 1/8"(h). 5 Mustard spoon 3 1/2"(l) x 3/4"(w).

"EPNS" is inscribed on the back of the handle. Thank you for looking, and have a wonderful day!
