Here is your chance to start or upgrade your Dansk peppermill collection with the highest quality items. We are offering another rare and highly collectible vintage DANSK pepper mill / salt shaker in exotic Mutenye Wood. This was part of earliest "RARE WOODS" line designed by Jens Harald Quistgaard for Dansk Designs, LTD, made in Denmark, circa 1960. This is the VERY FIRST and therefore, the rarest design of all 8 different variations of "Mushroom" shape peppermills. The piece consist of Salt shaker with plastic "tooth fit" locking mechanism to connect both parts and two plastic plugs to cover the insertion holes for both the shaker and the grinder and the Pepper mill. The peppermill comes with earliest type of pepper grinding mechanism was made by Tre Spade, Italy. We believe that this peppermill was handcrafted of beautifully grained exotic Mutenye Wood with a natural finish.

This "prototype" had very short production life due to very time consuming process and high manufacturing cost. Jens Quistgaard used many different types of exotic wood that was taken from the jungles of Nicaragua, Brasil, British Honduras and East Africa - the world's rarest, most exotic wood, to create his famous high end limited edition tableware. He also used a top quality grinding mechanisms of case-hardened steel made in Italy (Tre Spade), France (Peugeot, Goldenberg) or unmarked.

The marked grinders have an authentic insignia and are known to be the best on the market for almost 200 years. The durability of these mechanisms and their proven track record allows to provide a lifetime guarantee on the grinding mechanism.

The peppermill is 7 1/4 (18.5 cm) tall and 3 1/2 (9 cm) wide. This 60+ years old piece is in excellent good, all original vintage condition. The natural finish and patina preserved beautifully.

Some very minor shallow dents to the wood, mostly on the bottom plate around the logo and one to the low lip of the salt shaker (please revise carefully all close up photos attached). Other than that, there is no wood damage. The internal tooth fill for both salt and pepper corns seems to have a nice fit, but we never tried to open for testing. The metal grinder is also retains its original patina and has not been touched or polished. The metal grinder marked: Tre Spade Made in Italy'.

The asking price is reflecting all details described above. The bottom of the peppermill has an earliest embossed logo and its marked: " Dansk Designs Denmark JHQ ". Extremely rare find, especially in its beautiful all original condition. The piece is very clean, comes from smoke free environment and would be a perfect addition to any of mid-century, Eames style collection! Beautiful decorative object, useful piece of art, wonderful and very elegant gift as well as a great investment!
