BATHING BEAUTIES ON BEACH BALL & SEA SHELL LUSTERWARE Salt and Pepper Shakers
LUSTERWARE BATHING BEAUTIES ON BEACH BALL AND SEA SHELL SALT AND PEPPER SHAKERS. EXTREMELY RARE AND UNIQUE ANTIQUE SHAKERS!! They are Lusterware Porcelain, hand painted in pastel colors with the blue and tan Luster glazes, nice facial expressions and great poses! Both are 3-1/2" tall, 3" wide, the Girl on the Ball is 1-1/2" deep, Girl on the SeaShell is 2" deep. Both are in 99.99% MINT condition , with only some paint loss and glaze color fade, NO chips, cracks, scratches or rubs, NO crazing because the Luster glaze holds up to time, they fade but rarely craze.
Both girls have'Made In Japan' inset on their back bottoms along with an inset mark that looks like a circle with a'K' or a'Arc and sideways'V', which is for an unknown early Japanese Pottery, they are also Ink Stamped MIJ on the bottoms, they have no corks, and were made from 1897 to 1930 when Luster glazes were mostly used. Truly a rare and unique set! If you collect antique shakers, these will be a special addition, I have not seem another set like them, and I have collected for a long time.I will describe and list any defects I find, but as all are old, there may be some scratches or rubs in the paint, or some paint fade or missing spots that I may miss in the description - look closely and enlarge all the photographs. I do not want you to be unhappy and return items. I will do my best to describe items, but if you have questions, please ask. I will pack the items carefully and securely.
