Antique Germany Ceramic Barney Comic Strip Googly Eyed Smoking Men Salt & Pepper. This is an antique googly eyed salt & pepper set representing the Barney comic strip characters from the 1940's. Each character has a cigar in his mouth. The characters are painted in period dress with the pepper shaker having a brown hat and coat, navy pants and black shoes.

The salt shaker has a red and white striped shirt, white vest, red tie, black pants and shoes. Each is stamped "Germany #7" and embossed P8950 (easier to read on the pepper shaker). Each measures approximately 3 1/4" tall with 1 1/4" bases and have cork stoppers. The salt shaker does show minor paint wear on the back of the slacks (see photos). There are no chips, cracks, flea bites, stains, repairs or other imperfections in the set. As can be seen in the photos, the salt & pepper shakers are in great condition for their age and would make a wonderful addition to your antique, comic strip, Barney, googly eyed, salt & pepper shaker or other collections.
