RARE Peek A Boo Bunny Cookie Jar & Salt & Pepper Shakers Ruth Van Tellingen. This jar is great condition, no chips or cracks and still has beautiful paint to it, the shakers are no less renowned in condition and make a great set. This set came out of a collection from Illinois with a lot of other high end jars in great condition. An original peek-a-boo cookie jar in really great condition! It was designed by Ruth Van Tellingen, an illustrator of childrens books, and produced sometime in the 1940s-1950s.
It was made by Regal China, probably in the 1950s. Salt and pepper shakers were made in the same design. Regal China was in Chicago in the 1930s and moved to Antioch, Illinois, in 1940.
The company was a division of Royal China and Novelty Co. In the 1940s and became a subsidiary of James B.Fewer than 2000 "Peek-a-Boo" cookie jars were made.
